Hey, yesterday on Talk of the Nation (2nd hour) there was a interview with Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens).

About 20 minutes into it, he takes out his guitar and plays "The Wind" and I've got to say it was the most wonderful thing I'd heard on NPR in a long, long, long time. The whole interview is great and he sings Peace Train and a few others. Well worth the podcast/stream if you have the time.

It makes you realize you really missed him, and you didn't even know it.

Can someone please make Susan Stamberg go away? Please?

Welcome back, Yusuf/Cat!

Susan is one of those NPR lifers who set the tone for NPR as a deceptively 'liberal' site amidst mass media schlock. While some of her work throughout the long years has been of value (that is, the people she has interviewed), she can't help but inflict her klunky personality on listeners.
I will say though, that next to ding-dong newcomers like Andrea 'Andy' Seabrook and Melissa Block, ol' Susan's bossy mommy tedium comes off as nearly tolerable.

Still, grown ups shouldn't giggle.
