Corporal Raz gave a rundown on Fuhrer Bush's The Surge (TM) this morn. What's your take, gang? It SEEMED a fairly objective report, but I'm certainly still capable of being tricked! One preposterous angle: that Fred 'Fluffy' Kagan (of the glorious AEI) and some hardass general were enraged enough to push through 'their' plan for this surge. I saw their miraculous PowerPointPresentation - it was like any old self-help seminar scheme on how to make your life better, based on a bunch of stuff that's already well known. All they did was bump up the number of cops on the beat. No political progress has resulted. But Fluffy Kagan & Co. SAVED IRAQ, I, uh, guess...

Yes, I thought Raz did a pretty decent report. We got to hear from supporters and critics and the basic information about the sectarian cantonization of the surge was also laid out. About the only missing piece is the ethnic purging of Baghdad during (as part of) the surge. But all in all I was surprised.
